HUNDREDS of academics and researchers from Britain and around the world will descend on Hampshire this month for a prestigious psychology conference.

This year's annual British Psychology Society (BPS) Social Psychology Conference is being held at the University of Winchester.

More than 300 delegates from around the world will attend the conference, which runs from next Tuesday to Thursday.

A postgraduate workshop starting on Monday will also give practical advice to psychology students looking to study a PhD.

Dr Russell Luyt from the university's Department of Psychology said: "Both these events provide the university with the opportunity to make a valuable contribution to the international social psychology research community.

"They are both firm fixtures on the social psychology calendar that draw sustained interest from across the world."
