Psychology Courses Offered in Three Formats at DSLCC This Summer

Two four-week psychology courses will be offered this summer at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College in three different but interchangeable formats, on Mondays through Thursdays, from 9:00-11:45 a.m.

Taught by Dr. Rob Goralewicz, "Developmental Psychology" (PSY 230) is scheduled for the first summer session June 14 – July 9, and "Abnormal Psychology" (PSY 215), is scheduled for the second summer session, July 12– August 6. Students must have completed General Psychology(PSY 200), prior to enrollment.

The three formats include the traditional classroom, compressed video, and Elluminate. The compressed video format enables students to attend classes on the Clifton Forge campus or the DSLCC Rockbridge Regional Center in Buena Vista, and still be able to see and interact with the instructor and other students from either location. Elluminate is an interactive, computer-generated web conferencing program that students may access from any location; however, headphones are a necessity while a computer camera is optional.

"Students may use any of the three formats or all three," says Goralewicz. The options provide flexibility for those who are employed or have other obligations during the summer but still wish to earn credits toward program requirements at DSLCC or another institution. Students planning to transfer the credits that they earn to a four-year college or university should seek approval from that institution prior to registering for PSY 230 or PSY 215.

To register for the first or second summer session (or both), contact DSLCC Student Services at (540) 863-2820 or the RRC at (540) 261-1211.
